Billy F Humphrey

Billy F. Humphrey, 85, of Kilgore completed his earthly journey on November 10, 2023, in Kilgore, Texas peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family. Services for Billy will be held Monday November 13, 2023, at Forest Home Baptist Church with a visitation beginning at 10:30 in the morning and funeral service at 12:00 in the afternoon. Burial at Lakeview Cemetery will immediately follow.

Billy was born on September 19, 1938, in Crandall, Texas to the late Odus and Mary Humphrey. He was raised in Kilgore, Texas. In 1957 he proudly graduated from Kilgore High School; the class just recently spent an afternoon celebrating their 66th class reunion. Billy served in the U.S. Army, was drafted by the Pittsburg Pirates but opted to decline and instead attended Baylor University. He went on to graduate with his Bachelor’s degree from East Texas State Commerce and went on to work in the oil industry in chemical sales at Amoco Welchem until retiring in 1991.

In 1962 Billy met the love of his life, Judy Boyd of Kilgore. The two dated for one month before marrying on September 14, 1962, in Longview, Texas. Together the two built a beautiful family of four, the proud parents welcomed two beautiful daughters: Jan and Jenni. For 61 years Billy and Judy have been inseparable, sharing their love of God and their family. Billy was a devoted husband and father, his role as grandfather and then great- grandfather was one in which he stood above the rest. His family are blessed to have had such an incredible patriarch to lead, teach and love unconditionally. He taught his family above all to love and trust God. Billy’s love of God called him to the position of Deacon at Forest Home Baptist Church for over 45 years. Billy spent his lifetime loving God and his family, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In passing, Billy was reunited with his beloved parents, Odus and Mary Humphrey, his siblings Janie Elliott and Buddy Humphrey. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Judy (Boyd) Humphrey daughters; Jan (Keith) Bullard of Lake Cherokee and Jenni (Bryan) Cole of Kilgore. Grandchildren; Eric (Brandi) Bullard, Austin (Hannah) Bullard of Longview, Colt Bullard of Lake Cherokee, Brianna (Cutter) Litteral of Longview, Blayne (Morgan) Cole of Longview and Great- grandchildren Parker Wayne Bullard, Warren Cole Litteral, Carrigan Cole, Cori Williams, and Charlie Lynn Cole along with nieces, nephews and many other loving family members and friends.
