Betty Ruth Crews

Betty Blackmon Crews, 91, of Kilgore, completed her earthly journey on Thursday, September 22, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, with Rev. Mark Fried officiating. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 until 5:00 Sunday afternoon.

Betty was born on November 7, 1930, in Knight. La., to Elzie and Martha Blackmon. Mrs. Crews graduated Valedictorian of Sabine High School. She worked as a cashier and office clerk for Safeway in Kilgore, until her retirement after 26 years. Betty also worked for East Texas Oil Museum in Kilgore. She was a long time, faithful member of Forest Home Baptist Church. Betty was a charter member of the Joy Makers at Forest Home Baptist Church, and Kilgore Saddle Club. She enjoyed reading various genres of books. Her family was the source of her strength and most of her happiest memories are the times that they were together.

Betty was reunited with her parents, husband Travis Crews, son, Travis Wayne Crews, brothers Kenneth Blackmon and Thomas Earl Blackmon, and a sister Mary Lee Todd.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Thomas Crews and his wife Debbie of Kilgore, Teresa Kingsbury and her husband Ronnie of Kilgore, Terri Kelly and her husband Ken of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Paula Crews of Kilgore; brother, Jimmy Blackmon of Oak Hill; 12 grandchildren;11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
