Barbara Ann Wallenmeyer, a beloved member of the Kilgore community, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on December 7, 1946, in Kilgore, Texas, Barbara dedicated her life to family, faith, and service, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.

A graduate of Kilgore High School, Class of 1965, Barbara pursued a fulfilling career as a Travel Agent Coordinator with Maritz in St. Louis, Missouri. Her professional journey reflected her warm and inviting nature, making her a trusted resource for many who sought travel advice and support.

Barbara was a devoted and active member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where she generously volunteered her time to various community programs whenever possible. Her kindness and giving spirit resonated with everyone she met; she was known for her ability to uplift those around her. A hopeless romantic at heart, Barbara often found joy in reading romance novels, collecting stamps, and enjoying classic westerns and Hallmark movies. Her passion for collecting western and cowboy memorabilia showcased her unique personality.

She cherished her family above all, finding immeasurable joy in the time they spent together. Barbara is survived by her son, Matthew Wallenmeyer; her son Mark Wallenmeyer and his wife Gina; her brothers, Gary Dunaway and his wife Nancy, and Jimmie Dunaway and his wife Sandy; her sister, Janice Patrick and her husband Jimmie; her granddaughter, Melinda Moore and her husband Jeff; her grandsons, Teddy Wallenmeyer and Dustin Wallenmeyer; and her great-granddaughter, Areya Moore. She also leaves behind many other loving family members and friends who will forever remember her affection and compassion.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Darrell Dunaway and Ora Lee Howell Dunaway.

The community is invited to pay their respects and celebrate Barbara’s life at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, Texas. Visitation will be held on January 9, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on January 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Kilgore Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Wallenmeyer leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family and community. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
