Barbara “Barb” Long
Barb Long, 71, of Liberty City, completed her earthly journey and went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, August 18, 2022, in her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, at 10 a.m., with Dr. Paul Michael Vacca officiating. Private family burial will follow service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3 until 5.
Barb was born on October 30, 1950, in Denver, Co., to Norman and Mary Ihme. She was a member of the Englewood High School Class 1968. Barb married the love of her life Arlie in September of 1969, and they spent the next 53 years making many loving and joyful memories. Barb was a long-time and active member of First Baptist Church Liberty City. She was a member of the Women’s 2 Sunday School Class and was always willing to help in any way that she could for any church related activity.
Barb enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping, listening to old country music and playing games. Barb was an avid T.V. watcher, especially reality game shows and Wheel of Fortune. Barb and Arlie enjoyed recording The Bold & The Beautiful, throughout the week. On Fridays they would sit and watch the previous weeks episodes together. Her family, especially her grandbabies, was the source of her strength and spending time with them, were her happiest and fondest moments
Barb was reunited with her parents, brothers Don Ihme and Ken Ihme.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Arlie Long of Liberty City; children, Justin Long and his wife Melissa of Tyler, Robert ‘Bobby” Long and his wife Carla of Rowlett, Ryan Long and his wife Danielle of Lewisville, Coale Long and his wife Tiffanie of Rockwall; grandchildren, Jessica, Jarrett, Lucy, Luke, Hayden, Nick, Jocelyn, Trenton, Chase, Jackson; brother, Norman “Bud” Ihme of Englewood, CO. Also, left to carry on Barb’s legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
