Arlan Thomas "Tommy" Dutschmann, a kind and caring individual, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in Kilgore, Texas, with his loving wife by his side. Born on February 21, 1939, in The Grove, Texas, Tommy was a cherished member of a large family, being one of nine brothers raised in a loving household.
Tommy dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country, having joined the Navy and the Army before retiring from the Arizona National Guard as a Staff Sergeant. Throughout his military career, he worked diligently as a mechanic, showcasing the skills and dedication that defined his work ethic.
Beyond his service, Tommy was known for his passion for the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing, as well as tinkering with various vehicles including boats, trucks, jeeps, and cars. His love for staying busy was a testament to his vibrant spirit and desire to engage with the world around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley, of Kilgore; his brothers, Robert Dutschmann of Gladewater and Rayford Dutschmann of Waco; his daughter, Tammy Bolin of Eddy; his sons, Dean Stovall of Whitney and Marty Hammond of Wichita Falls; his stepsons, John Riney and family, and Scott Neptune; as well as grandsons, Dylan and Austin. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends also cherished him deeply.
Tommy was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lydia and Henry Dutschmann, and his brothers Aubrey, Winfred, Otto, Marvin, Arvin, Floyd, and Eddie.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore.
Tommy's life was marked by a commitment to helping others, grounded in his faith and a deep reliance on the Gospel and saving grace of Jesus Christ. He embodied the values he held dear, as reflected in his belief that we are all sinful and in need of grace, as beautifully illustrated in Ephesians 2: 8-9. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
