Anna Bess Roach Hedrick, 89, of Kilgore, completed her earthly journey, in her home surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Funeral services for Mrs. Hedrick will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, with Rev. Riley Pippen. Interment will follow in Danville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10 until 11 prior to the service.
Anna Bess Roach Hedrick was born on September 3, 1933, in Corsicana to J.V. and Bess Roach. Her father worked in the oil field during the oil boom, and they moved to east Texas in 1936. Anna Bess spent the rest of her life in Laird Hill and Kilgore. She was a graduate of Leverett’s Chapel Schools. Anna Bess had been faithful member of Forest Home Baptist Church, since 1958.
Anna Bess married Bill D. Hedrick in 1950 and they spent the next 72 years making many loving and happy memories. They raised four sons that were the delight of her life. Once her children were teenagers, she went to work for Kilgore School District. After several years she went to work for May engineering, where she remained until her retirement. Anna Bess’s family was the source of her strength and spending time with them is what made her happiest. She especially enjoyed teaming up with the grandchildren and cousins for overnight visits.
Anna Bess was reunited with her parents, brothers, Vic, Harold and Dana Roach.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Bill D; sons, Bill E., Dale (Laura), David, Don (Jana) all of Kilgore; grandchildren, Anna (Steven), Karl, Lisa (Joey), Jena (Scott), Leanne (Brian), Brett, Brittany (Lance); great-grandchildren, Christopher (Kristy), Jackson, Kailyn, Grady; and sister, Jean Melton Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Hospice of East Texas for their loving, compassionate and excellent care of Anna Bess during the final days of her earthly journey.
