Ancil Leon Crowder, born on July 16, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on September 20, 2025, at his residence in Kilgore, Texas. He lived a life embodying strength, integrity, and devotion, qualities that made him not only a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but also a steadfast rock for his family.
Ancil served his country honorably in both the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating commitment and bravery. After his military career, he found fulfillment in being a devoted family man, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. He was a hero to his family, continuously inspiring them with his unwavering love and support.
He shared a remarkable 43 years of marriage with his wife and best friend, Glenda Darlene Crowder. Their relationship was a testament to what true devotion looks like, and together, they built a life rich with love and cherished memories. Ancil will be remembered for his profound love for his family, which included his daughters: Victoria Crowder Driver of Lancaster, Texas; Karen Brown of Dangerfield, Texas; Tammy Cobble of Wildwood, Florida; Tina Clay of Longview, Texas; Kim Clay of Kilgore, Texas; Ashley Crowder Holmgren of Gladewater, Texas; and his son, James R. Crowder of Cason, Texas and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ancil was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. While our hearts ache with his loss, we find solace in the lasting legacy he leaves behind—a legacy characterized by love and strength, capturing the essence of who he was.
In his leisure time, Ancil showcased his softer side, always accompanied by his beloved puppies, who brought him immense joy. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
Ancil was preceded in death by his parents, James Rusaw Crowder and Lilas Rogers. He leaves behind a family who will honor his memory through their actions, forever inspired by his example. Private cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Kilgore City Park ~ Large Pavillion. All are welcome to come and share this special day of remembrance.
