Aleah Michelle McKinney, born on July 4, 2002, in Bakersfield, California, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. Aleah’s life was a testament to strength, love, and unwavering determination. She faced her physical challenges with remarkable courage and grace, never allowing limitations to define her spirit.
Aleah attended Kilgore schools until her health would no longer permit, demonstrating an eagerness to engage with life and all it offered. From an early age, she embraced the Lord with profound faith and dedication, a commitment she maintained steadfastly from just two months old. Her devotion was a guiding light throughout her life, inspiring all who knew her.
Known for her loving, gentle, and sweet nature, Aleah was also a fierce fighter, embodying a resolve to live life to the fullest within her abilities. She loved unconditionally and was cherished in return by everyone blessed to know her. Aleah’s radiant spirit was a constant source of joy and blessing to her family and friends, and she was truly an inspiration to many. Her love for music and the company of family and friends brought her great happiness and comfort throughout her life.
Aleah’s family includes her loving parents, Charles Britt McKinney and Angela Garner McKinney, who stood by her side with unwavering support and devotion. She is also survived by her half-sister Eryn McKinney; uncle John Garner; aunt Genie Yubeta; grandmother Peggy Garner; aunts Cindy Campbell and Cynthia; and devoted caregivers Barbara Duncan, Casey Foster, Lizzie Maker, and Shanna Conner. Aleah’s life was further enriched by many other loving family members and friends who cherished her deeply.
She is mourned alongside the memories of those who preceded her in death: uncle Michael Yubeta; aunt Vickie McClure; maternal grandparents Ed Garner and Nancy Garner Gill; and paternal grandparents Kenneth McKinney and Carolyn McKinney Gonzalez.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. on May 30, 2026, at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Kilgore. This service will honor Aleah’s incredible journey, her tender heart, and the enduring impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to call her family and friend.
Aleah Michelle McKinney’s life, though marked by physical challenges, was rich with love, faith, and infectious joy. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her to live with courage and compassion. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a shining spirit who taught us all the true meaning of resilience and unconditional love.
