William Roy Washburn

Services for Roy Washburn, 73, of Tyler will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 22, 2022, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Rev. Samuel Priddy officiating. Private burial will follow at Tecula Cemetery in Tecula, Texas. Mr. Washburn completed his earthly journey on Friday, July 15, 2022, in Tyler.

Roy was born on January 10, 1949, in Henderson to the late William Kirby Washburn and Ethel May Gray. He worked for Tyler Pipe as supervisor up until his retirement in 1997 and was member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler since 2004. He enjoyed fishing where he would clean and cook for family and friends. Roy loved to play dominoes, 42 and Chicken Foot. Mr. Washburn had a passion for working on CB radios for friends and truck drivers and was affectionately known as “Buffalo”. Roy’s family was the source of his strength and spending time with them was when he was happiest.

Mr. Washburn is preceded in death by his son, Scott Alan Washburn, sister, Martha Ann Stewart, brother, Richard Washburn.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Washburn of Tyler; daughter, Kim Washburn Bush and husband Robert of Tyler; granddaughter, Jayden Adair of Tyler and great grandson, Oli Michael Adair of Tyler and sister-in-law, Patty Washburn of Van, Texas. Also, left to carry on his legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other loving family members.

The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Friday, July 22, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
