WAYNE WILSON DUPREE

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Wayne Wilson Dupree, 82, of Kilgore will be held at 1 pm in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore on Saturday, June 15, 2019 with Rev. David Hampton officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery in Atlanta. Mr. Dupree completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, in Tyler.
Wayne grew up in the Texarkana/Atlanta area and he and his wife and daughters lived in Atlanta for 22 years. He graduated from Atlanta High School in 1955 and was president of his class. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1960 with a degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts and was a Texas Exes life member. He was an avid fan of Longhorn football, baseball and basketball. Wayne was co-owner of Atlanta Motor Company in the late 70s and early 80s and was in the car business of selling and buying cars for 45 years. Wayne and Sonja moved to Kilgore in 1983 where they became members of First Baptist Church. Wayne was active in many civic clubs and community projects in Atlanta. He was President of the Atlanta Lions Club, President of Atlanta School Board and was Citizen of the Year in 1974.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Sonja Dupree of Kilgore; daughters, Judith Dupree Ott of Longview, Jennifer Dupree of Havana, FL; grandson, Cameron Ott of Kilgore; sisters, Joan Reece of Atlanta, Eva Shelby and her husband Earl of Atlanta, Linda Jaggers and her husband Joe of Benton, AR and a sister-in-law, Helen Dugger of Terrell. Also left to carry on his legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 until 8 in the evening.
