Virginia Eloise Duncan

August 18, 1926 — October 17, 2021

Virginia Eloise Duncan of Kilgore, Gregg County, TX went to be with her Lord, her husband Herman Lee Duncan, her son David Stephen Duncan, and other loved ones in Heaven on October 17, 2021. She was born at home in San Angelo, TX on August 18, 1926, followed by three sisters to Frank and Virginia Raiborn. When her father's work brought the family to Kilgore, she managed to spend 69 years in this town that she loved. She married Herman Lee Duncan on 9/8/45 and were married for 62 years until his passing in 2008. To this union two children were born, Rebecca Lee and David Stephen. They provided them with five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
After her children were raised, she worked and continued her education towards teaching. She and Herman loved and actively participated in activities of the Forest Home Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She also enjoyed researching and documenting our family genealogy and was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. After Herman had been gone for a few years, Eloise took an apartment in Tyler for seven years where she enjoyed the activities without the work of running a home. As she progressed with her plans to move closer to her grandchildren, she had to go to the hospital with Covid, which caused her the lack of use of her legs. After hospital and rehab in Tyler, she was thrilled to be able to come to a nursing home in Kilgore and was so happy to be home when she arrived at the Willows of Kilgore, and she resided there for the remainder of her life.
Eloise was incredibly kind and nurturing, and her greatest joy in life was her family. She made every day special for those around her and was an outstanding cook. She was a devout Christian who enjoyed sharing her faith and had a giving and nurturing sense about her. She will be missed by so many.
Eloise was proceeded in death by her parents; husband; son; sister, Elaine; and other loved ones as well. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Rebecca Lee Stephenson of Tennessee, who recently lost her husband, Frank of 49 years. Other survivors include five grandchildren: Jenifer Jameson, Amy Houghton, Crystal Duncan, David Duncan and Donovan Duncan; 13 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
