Sonya Barrett Headley, 67 of Kilgore, Tx was surrounded by family, friends, and so much love as she was called home to Heaven the morning of March 14, 2024.

Sonya was born on May 29, 1956 to Betty Sue Barrett and Conrad Barrett. She graduated from Overton High School in 1974, then attended Kilgore College and Stephen F. Austin State University. She spent many years attending Overton Missionary Baptist and later Whitehouse Church of Christ. She worked for several years in banking, at the country club, as a florist, and substitute teacher, but her true calling and passion was being a stay at home mom.

Sonya’s greatest joys in life were her family, friends, and pets. She loved spending quality time with her kids, hanging out with the Ya-Ya’s (Good Kim, Bad Kim & Debby), and talking about the good old days with her Overton people. She has always had the kindest soul, brightest smile, most contagious laugh, and a heart full of love. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Chase Headley of Dallas, Chelsea Lasick and husband Josh of Liberty City, and Cassie Headley of Liberty City; brother David Barrett and wife Geri of Kilgore, sister Sarah Barrett of Mt. Enterprise; niece Carson Walker and husband Nick of Austin; nephew Spencer Barrett and wife Luisa of Miami; her sweet dog Maizie; several other family members and many friends.

Sonya was reunited with her parents Betty Sue Barrett and Conrad Barrett; and her brother Gary Barrett.

A public visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19th from 5:30 pm until 7:30 in the evening at Rader Funeral Home. Sonya's funeral service will be held the following day, Wednesday, March 20 at 10:00 in the morning at Rader Funeral Home.
