Sheldon Burleson

Funeral services for Mr. Sheldon Lynn Burleson, 82, of Kilgore will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jason Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Mr. Burleson passed away at his home on Tuesday surrounded by his loving daughters.

Sheldon, born November 9, 1940, to Marvin Thomas Burleson and Kathleen Elizabeth Walden Burleson and lived his life in Kilgore. He pursued a 40-year career in the oil field industry, working for Getty Oil Company and Texaco/ Chevron.

Sheldon loved hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. He was a handy man and enjoyed working on lawnmowers. He worked around his property tending to his goats, and his dogs. He loved animals, he loved cooking, having fish fries and visiting with his family and friends. Mr. Burleson was known for his wit and humor. Sheldon worked and played hard and had a love for life that will live on in his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katie Kimbrell Burleson; and twin granddaughters, Allison and Natalie Dent.  

Sheldon is survived by his daughters, Tammy Walker (Curtis) of Santa Fe, Texas, Lori Hall of Kilgore, Texas, Kathryn Burnett of Lutz, Florida and Lisa Burleson Sieber (Tommy) of Kilgore; grandchildren, Carrie Burleson, Tracey Gomez, Christopher Gaytan, Kyle Walker, Todd Walker, David Correia, Jesse Correia, Jason Dent, Michelle Dent, Stephen Burnett, Jacob Burnett, Kyra Burnett, and Tessa Burnett; fourteen great grandchildren.
