Roger Dale McMillan, 73, of Tatum, completed his earthly journey on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at his home in Tatum surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022, at 10 o’clock in the morning at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
Roger was born on November 4, 1948, in Tyler to Dorothy Louise Womack and Roy M. McMillan Jr. He graduated from Troup ISD. After school he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country for four years and bravely fought in the Vietnam War While serving he received a Vietnam campaign medal, a Vietnam service medal, two overseas bars, a national defense service medal, a sharpshooter M-14, and an expert M-16. Roger worked in the oil field for numerous years as a supervisor. He was a loving and devoted father to his four children. Roger was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved to watch birds and tend to his yard. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Roger Scott McMillan and wife Candilyn McMillan of White Oak, Christy Clinnard and husband Trent Clinnard of Longview, Heather Gipson of Tatum, and April Suzanne Ishee and husband Casey Ishee of Beckville, brother, Mark Armitage and wife Missy Armitage of Liberty City, stepfather, Merlin Armitage of San Antonio, eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, along with other loving family members.
Roger was reunited with his wife, Cheryl Woodard, parents, brother Rick Armitage, and sister Suzzy Armitage.
