Nell Jean Polk Ledet

Cremation arrangements for Nell Jean Polk Ledet, 89 of Kilgore are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home Kilgore. A private family graveside will be held at a later date in Prentiss, Mississippi. Mrs. Ledet passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2023, in Tyler surrounded by her loving family.

Nell was born on January 22, 1933, in Prentiss, Mississippi to James Vardaman Polk and Margaret Lois Bass Polk. She graduated from Prentiss High School and attended college majoring in Business in Jackson, Mississippi. She married the love of her life Roland James Ledet in 1951. They shared three children and sixty-seven joyful years of marriage before his passing. Nell was a dedicated Christian and spent much of her time serving the Lord. She also had a green-thumb and enjoyed gardening and loved the Saints and Astros while never missing a game. Nell adored her family and fur-baby Bella and was at her happiest when amongst family, who lovingly called her Ma-Jean. Nell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Jill Horton and husband Amon of Kilgore, sons Brey Ledet and wife Janet of Tyler, and Alan Ledet of Yukon, Oklahoma, grandchildren Amber Horton and fiancé Andy Chilcoat of Kilgore, Andrew Ledet and wife Tonya of Las Vegas, and Jeremy Ledet and wife Mia of Yukon, Oklahoma and great-grandchildren Marcell Simpson of Las Vegas, Remy Ledet of Yukon, Oklahoma, Nella Ledet of Yukon, Oklahoma and Caroline Chilcoat of Kilgore.

Nell was reunited with her parents, husband Roland James Ledet, brother James Jute Polk, and sister Shirley Polk Williamson.
