Mary Jean Perkins Sanders Myers

Mary Jean Perkins Sanders Myers, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the age of 72 in her home in Kilgore. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Mary Jean was born on March 14, 1947 in Kilgore, TX to the late Howard Perkins and Jackie Fulgham-Perkins and attended and graduated from Kilgore schools. She was not only a mother, but she also lived her life putting others before herself.

Her faith in God was strong and she was a member of Forest Home Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday school class. She was a retiree of Kilgore College, where she spent many years as a Resource Specialist in the Watson Library. She was also involved with the KC Retirees group, as well as, her Fork and Knife lunch group.

The light of her life was her granddaughter, Ashley. There was nothing she loved more than being Ashley’s “Mim”. She loved traveling and having adventures with her family. Mary Jean deeply valued her family and her home was always open to any and all, especially for her Sunday lunches.

Mary Jean leaves a lasting legacy to always put others first, to care for the sick, to be kind and to take care of your family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Jacklyn Perkins Johnson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband Perry of New London, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Julyann Sanders of Kilgore, TX; son Ferrell Perkins of Kilgore, TX; granddaughter Ashley Sanders of Kilgore, TX; grandsons, Austin and Michael Huckabee of Kilgore; daughter-in-law Lisa Sanders of Kilgore, TX; sister and brother-in-law Ella Ruth and James Taylor of Kilgore, TX; sister and brother-in-law Nelda and Alton Thompson of Kilgore, TX; brother-in-law David Johnson of Kilgore, TX; brother-in-law Charles Myers of New London, TX; former husband and lifelong friend Joe Sanders of Kilgore, TX; nieces, Jennifer Fisk and husband Phillip, Amanda Parker, Laura Johnson and Rhonda Chinn and husband Ken; nephews, Gregg Thompson and wife Nancy and Gary Thompson.

A visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. A celebration of Mary Jean’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Danville Cemetery with Rev. Earl “Buddy” Duggins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Mary Jean’s name.
