Mary Jean Fleming

October 31, 1926 — May 12, 2020

Mary Jean “Sis” Dugger Fleming, 93, of Tyler, formerly of Kilgore, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 12, 2020. Private graveside services for Mrs. Fleming will take place at the Danville Cemetery on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with her grandson-in-law, Rev. Kyle Hoover, officiating.
Mary Jean was born on October 31, 1926, in Halsell, Texas, to Douglas and Idylee (Childs) Dugger. She graduated from Midway High School in Clay County in 1944 and worked for the telephone company in Wichita Falls until she married Clancy Donald Fleming in 1949. They spent the next 68 years making loving memories together until his death in 2017. Clancy’s career in the oil industry took them all over Texas, and Mary Jean made good friends wherever they lived, involving herself in church, school and social activities. Throughout her life, Mary Jean focused on her faith, husband, their three children, and other family and friends. Once grandchildren and great grandchildren came along, she found great joy in creating all kinds of activities and goodies for them. She had a passion and gift for cooking and baking, especially for those she loved. She was a member of Eastview Baptist Church, Kilgore, and the Kilgore Samuel Paul Dinkins Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include her children, Larry Fleming and wife Dana of Tyler, Mark Fleming and wife Susie of Lockhart, Julie Fleming Paris and husband Andrew of Nottingham, England; grandchildren, Christine Hoover and husband Kyle, Sarah Johnson and husband Travis, Mark Fleming and wife Nell, Austin Fleming and wife Michelle, Megan Fleming and wife Christa, Jonathan Paris, Becky Paris, and Emily Paris; great-grandchildren, Will, Reese, and Luke Hoover, Tyler, Cooper and Claire Johnson; and a sister, Lea Ann Greer and husband David of Henrietta. Also left to carry on her legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
In addition to her husband Clancy, she is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Genevieve Kelley and Bobbie Wilson.

In these changing times, our faith in Christ bids us to trust in God’s unchanging, generous love and goodness.
