Joe Arnold Whitten

Graveside services for Joe Whitten, 67, of Kilgore, will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Kilgore Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. C. Philip Chacko officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Whitten passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 in Tyler.
Joe was born on May 26, 1953 in Henderson, Texas to the late AJ & Jesse Whitten. Mr. Whitten owned and operated his mechanic shop for many years and received his ASE Certification. He enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, making people laugh and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ray Davis, Bill Davis, AJ Whitten, Jess Whitten and Norman Whitten; sisters, Ruby Bell and Annie Odom.
Joe is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Whitten of Kilgore; a brother, Curt Whitten, Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Joyce Whitten, Carthage; sons, Joe Whitten, Jr and Eric AJ Whitten of Kilgore; daughter, Jamie C. Whitten Gardner of New London; grandchildren, Joe Arnold Whitten III, Austin Taylor Whitten, James Calvin Whitten, Jayden Andrew Whitten and Alexander Chase Whitten; great grandchildren, Connor Russell Whitten and Kase Alynn Whitten and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members.
