Jean Council Birt

Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Council Birt, 90, of Kilgore will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Assembly of God Church with Reverend Roger Hoffpowier officiating. Burial will be in the Danville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Rader Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Jean Council Birt was welcomed into heaven on January 2, 2022. She slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus after a long enduring illness. Jean was born on February 20, 1931.

Jean was a charter member and on the Board of Directors of Trinity Assembly of God Church in Kilgore. She worked for Gregg County Clerk’s office for 25 years until her retirement.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lona and Ben Cagle, husband, Jesse Earl Council, husband, James Byron Birt, and daughter, Vickie Jean Weatherford.

Jean is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Billy Hablinski of Athens, and Mitzi and Billy Harrod of Douglas; son, Jesse Earl Council, Jr. (Jay) of Brownwood, eight grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Grandy and Wanda Smallwood; several nieces and nephews and other family.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sherry Hampton of Bristol Pathways Hospice as well as her caretakers, Janda Wofford and Loretta Crutchfield for the loving care they gave our mother. Sherry Hampton
