Cremation arrangements for Mr. Jay W. Westbrook, 78, of Kilgore are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Westbrook passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021, at his home in Kilgore.

Jay was born on January 13, 1943, in Mercedes, Texas. He was the son of the late Earnest A. Westbrook and Mary H. Spears Westbrook. Jay attended school in Marshall and was an active member of the Woodmen of the World. He joined the United State Marine Corp at the age of 17, where he was a helicopter mechanic. Jay later worked as a chemical plant operator in the Houston area and retired as plant supervisor at Quantum Chemical after 30 years in the industry. Jay enjoyed his time with family and friends, reminiscing about days gone by, eating out at local diners, and going for long rides in the car.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earnest A. Westbrook, Jr,; sisters, Betty Sue McMullen, Marion Harris.

Jay is survived by his daughter, Ashley Bagwell and husband Al of Kilgore; grandchildren, Jessica Moniz of Kilgore and Jennifer Lunn of Houston; great-grandchildren, Daniel Hopper, Elijah Hopper, Ezekiel Moniz, and Bonnie Moniz of Kilgore; siblings, Curtis “Rusty” Westbrook of Trinity, Mary Lou Hill of Marshall, Peggy Byassee of Marshall, and Sam Westbrook and wife Debra of Conroe; along with several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
