Janie Baton Finney

d. April 8, 2019

Janie Ruth Baton Finney passed away April 8, 2019 at her home in Kilgore, TX. Born July 10, 1937, she was the daughter of John and Ruth Baton. She attended Kilgore Public Schools, graduated from Kilgore High School in 1955 and attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

Ms. Finney worked for Texas International Airlines at the Gregg County Airport until they moved the operation to Houston. She was a Tax Deputy for Rusk County at the Kilgore offices for many years. Janie’s love for Lake Cherokee was well known. From a very young age, she spent every moment she could on the lake boating, jet skiing, soaking up the sun and enjoying the time with family and friends. Cheering on her beloved TCU Horned Frogs on the football field was her favorite cold weather past time.

She is survived by her two daughters Richanna Finney of Kilgore and Janie Anne Finney of Fort Worth, two grandsons David Hale Finney-Murchison of Winona and Richard Lane Hopper of Fort Worth and two great-grandsons Remington and Levi Murchison both of Winona, along with her brother David Baton of Kilgore. She was preceded in death by her parents and her lifelong best friends Betty Spradlin and Latane Speer.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring people of Hearts Way Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Cherokee Fireworks Fund in memory of Janie Baton Finney.
