James Lee Allen

James Lee Allen, 78, of Kilgore completed his earthly journey surrounded by his loving family in his home on Saturday, October 3, 2020, following a very courageous battle with lung cancer. Cremation arrangements are with Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

James Lee was born on September 14, 1942 in Houston, to Vernon Allen and Roxie Ann Ray. His family moved to Upshur County and he attended school in Gilmer until transferring and graduating from Longview High School. James honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for various companies including, Schlitz, Texas Utilities and Region VII. When James Lee was not working, he enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, driving his tractor and anything that involved being outdoors. For the last several years he had been very involved with the Elderville Water Board. He attended The Church at Lake Cherokee. His family was the source of his strength and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren who called him ”Pops”, was when he was happiest. James will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives he has touched.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Pandy Allen of Kilgore; children, Tanja Coleman and her husband Brent of Carthage, Chris Allen of Longview, Mikel Allen and his life partner Melissa Ford of Gladewater; grandchildren, Colton Coleman, Collin Coleman, Mikka Allen, Austin Allen and his sister, Mary Jo Davidson of Gilmer. Also, left to carry on his legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other loving family members.

James was met at the gates of Heaven by his parents and two sisters Margaret Ann Scott and Leah Ray Davidson.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Prime Care Hospice of Longview for their compassionate and loving care of James during the final days of his earthly journey.
