Gloria Dawn Duncan

Services for Gloria Duncan, 73 of Kilgore will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Grace Baptist Church in Kilgore with Rev. Scott Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Danville Cemetery. Mrs. Duncan passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, in Longview. Family will receive friends form 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Gloria was born on October 4, 1948, in Abbeville, Louisiana to the late James Roscoe Stowers and LaMadge Biggerstaff. Mrs. Duncan was raised in Alvin, Texas where she graduated from Alvin High School in 1967 and graduated from Alvin Community College in 1969 with an Associate of Arts Degree. Gloria moved to Kilgore in 1972 where she later met the love of her life when Bill came through the Dairy Queen drive thru. She won that handsome Fire Fighter over by putting pickles in his banana split. They married months later and raised four children. Over the years she enjoyed shaping young minds by working as a Pre-K teacher at Stepping Stone and Grace Baptist in Kilgore. Gloria loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandbabies. When able, she and Bill would visit Galveston where Gloria would catch up with her “Divas” from the Alvin Class of 1967. She loved to fish, walking around the neighborhood and enjoyed a glass of “Cold Duck Wine”. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all that knew her.

Gloria was reunited with her parents and brothers, Ronald Paul Stowers and Richard Doyle Stowers.

Left to cherish her memory her husband of 49 years, Bill Duncan of Kilgore; children, Christopher Ryan Duncan and wife Barbara of Kilgore, Billy Duncan, Jr. and wife Bobbi of Porter, Texas, Tara Lawyer and husband Bill of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Richard Paul Duncan and wife Amy of Kilgore; grandchildren, Shelby Dillard, Cody Duncan, Neely Duncan, Blake Duncan, Zachary Balboa, Elijah Duncan, Bailey Duncan, Rylan Lawyer, Reagan Lawyer, Amber Lawyer, Katie Lawyer, Johnathan Duncan and Brooke Duncan; four great grandchildren; her fur baby Gracie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other loving family members.
