Glenda Stone Reid
A Celebration of Life Visitation for Glenda Stone Reid, 71, of Kilgore, will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore from 4 until 6 n the evening. Cremation under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in in Kilgore and East Texas Crematory. Glenda completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in Longview following a very courageous battle with cancer.
Glenda was born on December 4, 1950, to Raymond and BeBe Stone in Kilgore. She was a member of the Kilgore High School Class of 1969; and graduated from Bish Mathis Institute in Longview in 1970.She married the love of her life Arthur Lynn Reid in May of 1970; they spent the next 51 years making many loving and happy memories. During her working years she worked for Beall’s Department Store, City of Kilgore, and Gregg County Regional Airport. Glenda learned to make alterations and sew garments during her time with Beall’s, which led to her opening her own alterations and sewing shop next to her home, named “Sew n Sew.” Anyone who stopped by her shop was always greeted with a warm smile, great hug, good conversation and maybe a little local gossip.
When not busy in her shop, Glenda enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, painting, shopping for antiques, actually shopping for anything was one of her favorite pass times. She also, loved to travel to Branson, Mo., where she would shop while Arthur Lynn people watched and napped. Glenda was a long-time member of Forest Home Baptist Church in Kilgore and had been attending Pirtle Methodist Church until her illness and pain made it unbearable to attend. Glenda’s family was the source of her strength and spending time with them was when she was happiest.
Glenda was reunited with her parents and baby sister Ginger Elene Stone.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Arthur Lynn Reid of Kilgore; children, Kasey Reid of Kilgore, Robyn Nettles and her husband Alan of Kilgore; grandchildren, Carter Nettles of Shreveport, Sophie Nettles of Kilgore; brother, Gary Stone and his wife Kathy Rodgers Stone of Longview; nieces and nephews, Chase Stone and his wife Kori of Longview, Brant Stone and his wife Amber of Jefferson, Kash Stone and Kade Stone of Longview Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous in-laws, cousins, friends, and other loving family members.
