GAY “TINKER” ATTAWAY LASTRAPES

Services at the graveside for Gay “Tinker” Attaway LaStrapes, 68, of Athens formerly of Kilgore, will be held at 11 a m in the Hickory Grove Cemetery on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, with Rev. Juan Moreno officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 6 until 8 in the evening. Ms. LaStrapes completed her earthly journey on Saturday, December 14, 2019, in Tyler.

Gay was born on November 5, 1951, in Lake Village, AR to Leo Buddy and Gladys Attaway. She worked as a seamstress, making medical supplies. Her family was the source of her strength and spending time with them was when she was happiest. Gay loved all holidays because that meant that her family and friends would be together. Whenever, they got together they would play various board and card games. Gay loved to play various games including video games, especially with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she has touched.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jennifer Stevenson and husband Ulric of Trinidad, Leo Ratajczak of Athens, Ramona Velazquez and husband Jesus of Athens; grandchildren, Orion Stevenson of Trinidad, Jeremiah, Jacob and Sadey Velazquez all of Athens; siblings Joy Cleveland of Athens, Gloria Hardy of Kilgore, Steven Attaway and wife Nita of Kilgore. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other loving family members.
