Services at the graveside for Gary ‘Pawpaw” Hassell, 67, of Kilgore, will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in Danville Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, with Bro.Ken Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7.Mr. Hassell completed his earthly journey on Saturday, October 29, 2022, in Tyler.

Gary was born on May 28, 1955, in Kilgore, to Millard and Allene Hassell. He was a member of the Kilgore High School Ragin’ Red Band and Class of 1974.He often stated, “if it had not been for band, I would not have gone to school.” He retired from Baker Corp/United Rentals after 13 years of employment. Gary was a Christian and a Baptist, he loved to sing and especially sing to his Lord and Savior. He loved to go to the lake and fish. Gary’s family, especially his grandbabies, were the source of his strength and joy. He loved to have large fish fries for his family and friends.

Gary was reunited with his parents Millard and Allene Hassell, and grandparents, Herbie and Beulah Kinsey, Mac Hassell and Hesel Christian.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Barbara Hassell of Kilgore; children, Denise Henson and her husband Brad of Kilgore, Gary Hassell and his wife Misty of Longview; grandchildren, Spencer and Shelby Henson, Hunter and Mason Hassell; bonus grandchildren, Blayne and Austin Roach, Bre Pace and Kelsey Clayton, Lane and Daniel Gray, Kolton Norton, Remington and Erin Henderson, Georgia Fleck; bonus great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Aubree, Brooklynn, Kaeson, Liam, Vivian, Brooklynn, Karter, Rylen; sister, Debbie Oglesby and her husband Jerry of Kilgore; uncle, Herbert Jr Kinsey of Lawton, Ok.; fur baby and partner in crime, Davy. Also, left to carry on his legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other loving family members.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Fellowship Baptist Church of Kilgore, 389 Rice Rd., Kilgore, Texas, 75662.
