Eldon Leach

Graveside services for Eldon Leach, 95 of Kilgore are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Kilgore Cemetery with Brother Mark Hendrick and Brother Mitchell Powell officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Leach passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 in Longview, Texas.

Mr. Leach was born on February 29, 1924 in Atlanta, Texas to the late Lewis Andrew Leach and Rosa Clemmons. Eldon served in the US Army and was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene in Kilgore for over 60 years. Mr. Leach worked as a mechanic for the Ford Dealership for 17 years and later worked as a mechanic for Roger Lacy for 26 years.

Mr. Leach was lovingly known as “Pal” to those who knew him well and affectionately known as “Papa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a respected husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and role model. He enjoyed many lifelong years of hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, playing dominoes, and camping with family and friends.

He was known for his sense of humor and LOVED to tell stories, fond memories of relatives past and present, and his rich life experiences. He adored his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Most significant was his personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved to read the Bible and memorize scripture. He knew where he was going when he passed from this life. He was certainly greeted into heaven with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your master!”

He was loved by all who knew him and his many stories from his life’s journey will be missed. We are forever thankful, grateful and blessed to be loved by him. Eldon is not dead. He is alive forevermore.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Leach in 2013; daughter, Peggy White; sisters, Corene Ensley, Hazel Prater, Oree Ashbury and Euline Collins; brothers, Weldon Leach, L.A. Leach and Felton Leach.

He is survived by his sons, John Leach and wife Judith of Kilgore and Jimmy Leach and wife Mary Lee of Kilgore; grandchildren, Robin Rogers and husband Mike, John Leach, Angie Grimes and husband Stephen, Kelly Leach, Amy Heisel and husband Mark, Loretta Salinas and husband Darrell, Allison Daniel and Logan Underwood and wife Nicole; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as other loving family members.
