Danny H. Waites

Visitation for Danny H. Waites, 72, of Liberty City will be held on January 28, 2022, from six till eight o’clock in the evening at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Waites completed his earthly journey on Sunday, January 23, 2022.

Danny was born on October 19, 1949, in Longview, to Herman Daniel Waites and Martha Juanita Heim Waites. He was a 1968 graduate of Corsicana High School. After graduation he served in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Galena Gee Waites of Liberty City, daughter, Tammy Mierop and husband Keith of Marshall, TX, stepsons, Dylan and Daryn Hitchcock of Liberty City, "sister" Anita McNutt of Liberty City, brothers Dave Waites and wife Rhonda of Anna, TX, and Gary Waites of Liberty City, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless loving friends and family members.

After his service in the Air Force, Danny worked the remainder of his life in the oil and gas industry as a welder fabricator. With his skill in welding, he created many artistic pieces for friends and loved ones. Danny loved deep sea fishing, riding his motorcycle, and taking spontaneous trips with his wife, Galena. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. He was fun-loving, had a heart as big as Texas, and was always willing to help anyone in need. Danny will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.


Danny was reunited with his parents, and brother-in-law, Bob McNutt.
