BETTY KATHERINE GALEY

Betty Katherine Galey, 83, of Nacogdoches, formerly of Kilgore completed her earthly journey on Monday, August 26, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later time.

Betty was born on October 14, 1935 to Ben and Sophie Wasserman in Falls County, TX. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Her family was the source of her strength and spending time with them was when she was happiest. Betty enjoyed playing games, flower and vegetable gardening and she loved to go fishing. She will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she has touched.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sheryl Vasquez and husband Doug of Nacogdoches, Kathy Galey and partner Greg Kekipi of Nacogdoches, Brenda Galey of Kauai, HI, Calvin Galey of Kilgore, Sandy Clark and husband Kenneth of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Michael Vasquez, Sarah Gibbs, Shane Galey and wife Shonda, Bobby Clark, Kolton Clark, Kayla Ward and husband Stephen and Kenny Clark; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Melvin and husband Poncho, Lloyd Wasserman, Ruth Schultz and husband Paul all of Temple. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Galey, brothers Mike Wassermann, Frank Wasserman, Harold Wassermann and a sister Margaret House.

The family wishes to express their heart felt thanks and appreciation to Nacogdoches Medical Center and Harbor Hospice for their compassionate care of Betty during the final days of her earthly journey. They wish to also thank their many family and friends who have prayed and provided support to Betty and the family during this difficult time.

Memorials may be made in Betty’s name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
