Art Penney

April 21, 1936 — March 18, 2020

Arrangements for Mr. Art Penney, 83, of Liberty City are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Penney passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday evening March 18, 2020. Art was born on April 21, 1936, in Lancaster, New Hampshire. Art joined the Air Force at age 17, serving in Korea and retired from active duty after 20 years. He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church. Art worked for many years at United Pipe and Salvage and later at Snow Coil for several years. He enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR. Art loved spending time with his family and friends.


Art is survived by his wife of 59 years, June Penney of Liberty City; daughters and sons-in-law. Bonnie Penney Koechel and Greg of Deer Park, Peggy Penney Mick and Mike of Brenham, and Terry Penney Land and Eric of Tyler; sisters, Margie Martin of Portland, Maine and Monica Moore of Dundee, Florida; six grandchildren, Katie, April, Monica, Elizabeth, Megan, and T.J; six great-grandchildren; niece and nephew, Chris Leyda and husband Chris of Washington State and Mike Henderson and wife Barbara of Colorado along with several other nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur James Penney Sr. and Margarete Ellen Penney; son, William Penney; brothers, Russell Penney and Charles T. Penney; sisters, Margaret Chadwick, Bertha Henderson, and Irene Vinal.

A private family service will be scheduled. Family and friends are invited to come by the funeral home to sign the memorial book and viewing from 8:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 20, 2020, and 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2020.
