La Velle Reeves Blair Guestbook

Diane Villyard Johnson

Horseshoe BayTX

I just happened across this sad news about the loss of your beautiful Mother, LaVelle. When I was growing up in school with you, I had no idea that she was your Mother. I loved her so much!!! She worked with my Aunt Mildred Crim at the Kilgore Beauty Shop for many years and I always looked forward to enjoying her beautiful personality and fun sense of humor when I went to my hair appointment with Mildred. Her laughter and smiles were so contagious and I loved her so much. After my parents died, I found a glass case containing beautiful hand painted porcelain eggs that were made by LaVelle, Melody, Fern, Janet and Deanne which were gifts to Mildred either for Christmas or her birthday. I would love to give these back to ‘the Girls’ as Mildred lovingly called them. If you or your wife could possibly let me know how to get them back to each of them or give all to someone, I would truly be happy to do so. This box or gift was a beautiful loving gift to Mildred and because the ‘eggs’ were all signed by each ‘Beauty Operator’ I want to offer them to someone to whom there would be some sentimental value. I understand that Cathy, Fern and possibly Janet? are deceased. Kenneth, you and your family are in my prayers as I’m sure you all feel the void of your Mom’s life in your daily lives. Please know that I have missed seeing you, my Friend.

Working with LaVelle in my early “beauty shop’ days was a pleasure. She made working fun...lots of laughs and good food. She made the best potato soup that I’ve never been able to master...I had her recipe but not her hands. Thanks for the wonderful memories...there were many! RIP...love you.
