Mrs. Verona Thomas

Mrs. Verona Thomas, 93, of Liberty City passed away suddenly on Tuesday in Longview. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. A formal visitation will not be held.

Mrs. Thomas was born on July 7, 1913 in Wood County, Texas. She was one of ten children born to the late Floyd and Eula Ray. As a child, she learned the value of a good and loving home. She attended school in Hawkins, Texas. In 1955, she married the late James Thomas and they made their home in Kilgore. Mrs. Thomas took great pride in her family and her home. She was an avid gardener and loved to raise flowers. In addition to her love of travel, the Dallas Cowboys were her heroes. Her love of God was evidenced by her faith and long-standing membership with the First Baptist Church of Hawkins.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Elzy Prater of Kilgore, Marilyn Sue and Tommy Patterson of Waco; four grandchildren, Shane Patterson and his wife Dena, D’Ette Craig and her husband Brad, Kane Patterson and his wife Kimberly, Brandi Wiemers and her husband Layton; Nine great grand children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and all of her siblings.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of each person’s choice.
