Visitation for Linda Ann Jarvis, 79, of Kilgore will be 4pm-5:30 pm Friday, August 4, 2017 at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore. At her request, there will be only a celebration of her life during this time so that family and friends can reminisce about the good times and fond memories. Interment will follow at Rosewood Park Mausoleum.

Ms. Jarvis passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, August 2, 2017 after a short decline in health. She was born December 19, 1937 in Henderson, Texas to Clovis Paschal Irby and Willie Eulala Smith Irby. She was married November 16, 1962 to the love of her life, William Lloyd Jarvis Jr., more fondly known as “Bill”. After 35 years together, Mr. Jarvis preceded her in death on November 24, 1997. She was also preceded in passing by her grandmother Gladys Sands Smith in 1976, her father in 1984, her mother in 2000, her younger sister Gail Irby Phillips in 2013.

As an instructor at Kilgore College for more than 20 years, Ms. Jarvis loved teaching her students the skills of fine writing and also to appreciate literature. She especially enjoyed watching them grow as readers and writers throughout their time together, and was always delighted to hear of their accomplishments after leaving her classroom. Devoted to preparing students for studies beyond Junior College, Ms. Jarvis was the driving force in the creation of the Kilgore College Honors Program.

The family offers endless thanks to Ms. Jarvis’s very kind and special caregiver, Susan Simmons, for the love and devotion she selflessly gave. The wonderful staff at HeartsWay Hospice will also have a special place in our hearts. Thank You cannot begin to touch the appreciation and love for her lifelong friend, Oscar Dent, for all his support over the years.

Ms. Jarvis leaves behind her two devoted daughters, Michele Jarvis Kincaid and her husband, Larry of Kilgore and Melisa Jarvis Roberts and her husband, Steve of Dallas. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Courtney Fears and her husband Shane of Longview, Heather Allen and her husband Levi of Kilgore, Miranda Reagan and her husband, Jack of Fort Worth, and Kara Hohlt of Dallas. She will also be greatly missed by her six great-grandchildren, Lauryn Kelley and Aaron Fears of Longview, Bailey, CJ and River Hedges of Kilgore, and Isaac Reagan of Fort Worth. Nephews, Toby Phillips and Rody Phillips, will also miss their dear “Aunt Sister”.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in Ms. Jarvis’s name.
