Graveside services for Mr. Jack S. Bean, Jr., 95, of Kilgore will be at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, March 12, 2007 at the Kilgore City Cemetery with the Reverend Ernie Turney officiating.

 

Mr. Bean was born in Kilgore, Texas on October 20, 1911.  He was one of five children born to the late Jack and Elizabeth Bean.  Mr. Bean was a graduate of Kilgore Schools and attended Tyler Junior College and Cumberland Law School.  In 1950, he married Tresa Mae Kapelle.  They were blessed with four daughters and a son.  After the death of Tresa on October 27, 1987, he married Mabel Frances Spear in 1989.  Mr. Bean served Kilgore and Gregg County as a Justice of the Peace and as a Gregg County Commissioner.  Mr. Bean was a charter member of the Meadow brook Country Club and a member of the Kilgore Lions Club for over fifty years.  He was recognized by St. Luke’s Methodist Church as being the longest active member of that congregation 

 

His four daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy and Richard Shafer, Karolyn Harrell, Deborah Walker, and Stephanie and Richard McGrew; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive him.

 

His parents, his first wife, his second wife, a son, Charles E. Bean, three sisters, Mary Ann Bean, Martha Bean DeWitt, Henrietta Bean Dupree and a brother Foster T. Bean preceded Mr. Bean in death.

 

The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home between five and seven p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2007.

 

Mr. Bean passed away Friday, March 9, 2007 in Longview.
