Merle McCraw

Funeral services for Merle McCraw, 95, of Kilgore will be 10 AM, Tuesday, July 24, 2007 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Reverend David Hampton officiating.   Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rusk County.  Mrs. McCraw died Friday, July 20, 2007 in Kilgore.

Mrs. McCraw was born on June 24, 1911 to the late John and Henrietta Briley in Henderson, Texas.  A longtime resident of Kilgore, she operated a beauty shop on Hwy 42.  Although she never had any children of her own, she was a mother, and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.  Mrs. McCraw was a dear friend and caregiver to any person who needed her, often setting with elderly while their family was out of town.  Merle was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Kilgore.  She served the Church through many committees such as Helping Hands, The Soup Kitchen, and helping out in the nursery.  One of her greatest joys was the Church Sunday Sunday_School Class, The Mariams, always showing a special love to her church family.  She was an active member of WMU, Lottie Moon and Young at Heart.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.  Her husband, Ray McCraw, her parents, brothers, Harvey, Finley, and Clyde Briley and one sister, Pauline Felts, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be six to eight, Monday, July 23, 2007 at the funeral home.   Memorials may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1809 Gilmer Rd. Longview, Texas 75604
