 Mass of Christian Burial for Amelia Smith Grevoy, 97, of Kilgore will be Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church with Reverend Father Michael J. Adams and Father Mark Kusmirek officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore Memorial Gardens. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mrs. Grevoy passed away Sunday, February 11, 2007 in Kilgore.

Amelia was born August 11, 1909 to the late William P. and Martha Clark Smith in Groveton, Texas. She attended school in Nacogdoches and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1931 with a degree in history. She worked for Southwestern Electric as an Administrative Assistant. Amelia married Raymond J. Grevoy on April 15, 1944. She lived in Minneapolis from 1945 until 1977. She returned to Kilgore where she was involved with the community and the church. She served as the President and Treasurer of the Kilgore Church Women. Amelia was also a founding member of the Senior Classics Group at Christ the King Catholic Church. She will be remembered as the sweetheart of the church.

Amelia is survived by niece-in-law Rebecca Schott of Nacogdoches; a niece Joyce Janak of Houston; Sister-in-law, Betty Grevoy of Las Vegas, Nevada, great nephew B.B. Schott and his son Frank, of Nacogdoches; treasured lifelong friend Dr. Cindy Bradford; and loving neighbors Dan and Elaine Sifford as well as many loving friends. Amelia brought great joy to the many members of her Church Family and each of them considered her and included her in their families.

Her husband Raymond J. Grevoy, parents and two brothers Mildrum Smith and Wilmar Smith precede Mrs. Grevoy in death. Amelia was especially proud to claim as her heritage two great-great-grandfathers, Charles S. Taylor and William Clark, Jr., who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence.

Pall Bearers: Bill O’Rourke III, Dan Sifford, Al Grush, Marion Brasher, Miron Gautier, Amos Snow, Art Penny B.B. Schott and Darvy Mann.
