Gary Michael Hooper

A Homegoing Service for Gary Michael Hooper, 40, of Longview will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017, at New Covenant Church, 5621 FM 2087, Longview, Tx 75603, with Rev. Mike Parks officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park in Longview, all under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Gary gained his wings on Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Tyler surrounded by his family.

Gary was born on March 29, 1977, in Longview to Michael and Becky Hooper and he spent his childhood in Carthage. He married the one true love of his life, Shonda, on February 10, 1996 and they spent the next 21 years making many happy and loving memories together. Gary was employed as a welding supervisor for Clad Tec/SAS Global for 22 years and his work family was so very important him and he will be greatly missed by his co-workers, worldwide. His hobbies included fishing, traveling, his Jeep and remaining a “legend” at World of the War Craft under the moniker “Hobugzz” he also loved cats and the Miami Dolphins. He became a man of faith and attended New Covenant Church and he had developed a deep love for the Lord and his final earthly words were “I love you Jesus!!” His family and friends were the source of his strength and spending time with them was when he was happiest. He will be missed by all whose lives he has touched.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Shonda of Longview; only son, Zackary Zane Hooper of Longview; parents, Mike Hooper and his wife Teresa of Longview, Becky Hooper of Carthage; mother-in-law, Nancy Ashley of Longview, siblings, Brad and Brandy Johnson of Henderson, Shanon and Stephen Leath of Longview, Kristi and Brian Holman of Palestine, Mark and Donnya Johnson of Longview, Jason Hooper of Longview, Greg and Tina Hooper of Fairplay; sisters-in-law, TC and Richard Collins of Conroe, Janie and Chris Hester of Amarillo; nieces and nephews, Bryce, Brady, Payton, Allison, Brooke, Jacob, Cory, Kaylee, Kilee, Brooklyn, Haydon, Alex, William, Jaydon, Hannah, Hailey, Hunter, Parris, Trey, Jordyn and Conner; furbaby Smoky. Also, left to carry on his legacy are numerous friends and other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tommy and Ruth Collier, Benny Hooper, Bill and Estelle Helton; father-in-law, Jimmy Hulsey and his very best friend for numerous years Tim Carson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 6 until 8 in the evening.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the excellent and loving care that Gary received from The Hospice of East Texas during the final days of his earthly journey.
