Gerald “Jerry” Halbrooks
Services for Mr. Gerald “Jerry” Halbrooks, 68, of Kilgore/Tyler will be at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Grace Baptist Temple with Rev. Don Beebe officiating, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Halbrooks passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in Tyler following a lengthy illness.
He was born on October 11, 1944, in Texas City, TX to Ray and Noweta Halbrooks. He was a high school graduate. He served our country in the United States Air Force from 1961-1963. His career in the oilfield began in 1968 allowing him to travel and work in numerous countries and he retired from Camco, Ltd., as a workover supervisor in 1998. In his spare time he enjoyed being a mechanic. His wife, children and grandchildren were the source of his strength and joy. His happiest moments in life were those spent with his family.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Paulette of Tyler; children, Joseph L. Halbrooks of Tyler, John D. Halbrooks of Tampa, FL, Anna Halbrooks of Macon, GA, Michael Halbrooks of Michigan ,Sherry Halbrooks of Longview; 10 grandchildren, one great grandchild; siblings, Donna Mincy of Garden Grove, CA, Tommy Halbrooks of Houston; close friend Barney Fisher of Houston. As well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Carol Ruth Lawless, son Jerry Lynn Halbrooks and a daughter Sandy Martin.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Hospice of East Texas for the excellent care and compassion expressed during Jerry’s final days.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 in the evening on Friday.
