i think of matt often. he was always such a sweet and kindhearted person, and his genuine nature didn't go without notice. the last time i saw matt was after i joined the navy (and everyone else had gone off to college), and i was home for the holidays and had to do recruiting around the mall in my uniform. as ridiculous as i felt, matt didn't make mention of it. he just hugged me and we exchanged stories of what we had been up to lately and how life was going. he gave me one last hug before we parted ways and had a great big smile on his face as he told me it was good to see me, and i, him. he had a way of making you feel good about yourself and about life. matt was such a wonderful person. he is thought of often, and always missed.

I am shaken and heartbroken for the loss of Matt. I played a few years of football with Matt at Austin College and he was always a great man. He was kind, funny, laid back, and somebody I greatly respected. I just want to give my respect to his family and say how great of a person Matt was. God bless.

I can't even begin to grasp the idea that the world could be without Matt Reed. Matt, I am honored to have been a part of your life. Lisa, David, Andy, Cody, Zac, and Chris.....They say in life you know who your "true" friends are. Matt was a "true" friend to me, always looking out for myself or others long before himself. He had a special ability to make you feel better, lift your spirits, and bring joy to a room no matter the time, day, or situation. In the recent days my mind has been flooded with memories, which will undoubtedly continue for the unforeseeable future. I will forever cherish these memories, as Matt played an integral role in my life over the past 10 years. Finally, Matt, I love you dearly, you will always be considered one of my best friends, and I will always remember, "If You're Gonna Play in Texas, You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band."
